Rick graduated from The University of Alabama College of Commerce and Business Administration in 1983 with a BA in Pre-Law (emphasis on Finance) and a minor in English. He went on to graduate from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1986, where he competed on the National Moot Court Team and the ATLA Trial Advocacy Team, and served as an officer on the Moot Court Board. He began his career in civil practice with a large insurance defense firm where he learned the “behind the scenes” process of the insurance industry’s approach to litigation. He later transitioned to representing Plaintiffs in the 1990s. He has actively litigated a broad range of cases, including actions for wrongful death, burn injuries, bad faith, product liability, business torts/disputes, sex abuse, medical malpractice and motor vehicle collisions. He is licensed to practice law in all Alabama Courts and has litigated cases in 6 different states.
Rick is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Mobile Bar Association, enjoys membership in the Mobile Chapter of Inns of Court, and has served as an officer and past president of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Tuscaloosa Bar Association. He is also a trained and experienced mediator, and has spoken at numerous seminars on litigation tactics, dispute resolution and other topics.
